Your Component Can’t Be Controlled By The Remote.
- The remote must be in the correct mode by pressing the appropriate button (TV, DVD, VCR CBL, SAT)
- Make sure there’s nothing between the remote and the component
- If the component has an IR sensor, make sure to point the remote at it.
- Battery installation should be done properly and with fresh batteries.
- AA batteries are recommended to be replaced if necessary.
How to Reset the RCA Remote
- Disconnect the batteries
- After that, hold down the number 1 key on the remote and press it for several seconds to reset the microprocessor inside.
- Reinstall the batteries by releasing the number 1 key.

- In order to control a TV/VCR or TV/DVD combo unit, both the TV key and the VCR•DVD key need to be programmed.
- If the TV key is properly programmed, the TV functions in your unit will be controlled by the TV key, and the VCR/DVD functions will be controlled by the VCR or DVD key.

- When turning on RCA, GE, or PROSCAN components, use the appropriate key (TV, VCR•DVD, SAT•CBL) rather than ON/OFF.

How Do I Reprogram My RCA Universal Remote?
- Ensure the RCA universal remote is facing the device you wish to set up.
- To pair a device, press and hold the button that corresponds to it (TV/CBL/VCR, etc).
- You now need to wait until the remote light blinks.
- Hold down the device button and the power button at the same time until the light turns on and off. Usually, this takes 4-5 seconds.
- Release both the device and power buttons. It is important that the power button light stays on… if not, repeat steps 2 and 3.

- When pairing a universal remote, hold the button corresponding to the device you’re using (for instance, a DVD player). A blinking light will appear and then remain steady.

- Then release the device and power buttons
- When you are in pairing mode, the power button light should stay on. Otherwise, repeat steps 2 and 3 again.
- To scan the available remote codes, press the power button on the universal remote.
- Once the equipment you’re controlling turns off, you’ve found the correct universal remote code.
- If the indicator light on the remote blinks four times, you have gone through the entire list, and therefore, your remote is not likely to work.

- Switch on the TV
- Hold the TV button until the red light appears.
- While continuing to press the TV button, press the power button until the red light comes back on.
- Let go of both buttons when the red light comes on
