When using the auto search method, all the universal remote codes are automatically scanned by the remote through the scanning process. The Magnavox tv remote scans each code one by one in order to determine the correct code for programming. Follow these guidelines given below:
- Just Switch On your TV or another device.
- Turn On the remote, press the device button (TV, DVD, CBL, and OK/SEL) for at least 3 seconds. You will see the LED light that means the device is ready to program.
- Bring your remote close to the TV and press the CH+ & CH- buttons. Remote will display on/off signals. Continue pressing the “up” or “down” key until the device turns off.
- Click on the “power” key to verify the code. Now your device will be turned on. As soon as it starts, change the channel to be sure that the remote is programmed correctly.
- You can now save the code by tapping the “device” button. The LED Light will flash twice to confirm your code is successfully stored.
A keycode can be used to program a universal remote control, and it can also identify the brand and model of your equipment.

- The first step is “Turn on the device.
- Tap the “TV” button on your remote.
- Press and hold the “Setup button” until you see the “Light Flash” (That means the remote is now in “Learning mode”).
- You will need to enter the Keycode that you received from the programming instruction guide.
- Once you have followed these steps, simply point your remote at the TV and then press and hold the power button until the TV turns off.
It’s all set and you will be able to operate the TV from your universal remote control, if it’s not working, then follow the same process once again but using a different code that is located in the same part of the reference sheet.
Using this method, you can set your remote to search for the correct code. There is a code in the manual that you can enter to force the remote into search mode.
- “Turn On” the Device
- Now press and hold the “Setup button”
- Enter this code “9-9-1”
- Press and hold the “Power Button” and then instantly press the Channel up button until the device “Turns Off”
You might have to spend some extra time using the above method, but it is very important to find your key code. Once you have followed the above steps, you should find that your remote now control all the functions of your television.
- “Switch On the TV” and check to see if the remote has batteries.
- Keep pressing and holding the TV and SEL buttons together for at least three seconds.
- Simply point the remote at the TV with a lit button (it means the remote is activated and ready to program the TV), enter the 3 or 4 digit code from the table above.
- On the TV, press the “Menu” button
- Now tap the “CH+” and “Vol+” keys to navigate the menu.
- Use the Vol+ button for selection
- Navigate to the “Exit” and press the “Menu” button to close the menu.
- You need to press the code search button for almost 2-3 seconds until there LED light will blink.
- Now click the appropriate option for your device like the “TV button”.
