How To Program an Onn Universal Remote Without Codes
The auto search method involves scanning all universal remote codes in order to find the correct code that will work with your remote. Each code is scanned at a time to find out which code match to program the control. Follow these steps as written below:
- “Turn On” the device, such as your TV, In order to operate the universal remote to program it.
- “Turn On” the remote, tap on the device button (TV, DVD, CBL, and OK/SEL) for 3 seconds.
- The LED light indicates the device is ready to program.
- Simply point the remote at the device and click on “CH+” & “CH-.”. It will show on/off. Keep pressing “up” or “down” till the device turns off.
- Click on the “power” key to verify the code. Make sure the device is on.
- If it starts, switch channels to verify the remote is programmed correctly.
- Save the code by tapping the “Device” button. Two blinks of the device’s LED will confirm the code has been saved.
How to Program Onn Universal Remote With Manual Method
With the keycode, you will be able to easily program a universal remote control and it will automatically recognize the make and model of your equipment.
- The first step is to “Turn On” the device
- Click on the “TV” option on your “Onn universal remote”
- You now need to press and hold the “Setup Button” of your Universal Remote until you see the “Light Flash.” (It indicates the device is now in “Learning mode”)
- Then enter the Keycode you got from the programming guide (Instructions Booklet)
- Once you’ve done that, simply point your remote at your TV and Press the Power button.
- When the screen turns off, release the “Power Button”

If you are unable to find the key code that works with your device, there is another way to set up your universal remote to search mode. There is a code in your remote manual that forces it into search mode.
- The First Step, “Switch On” the device.

- Now type the 3-digit code “9-9-1”.
- Tap and hold the “Power Button” at the same time press the Channel up button from the remote then your TV automatically “Turns Off”
